The Honorable Ban Ki-moon
Secretary-General
United Nations
3 United Nations Plaza
New York, NY 10017
Dear Secretary-General Ki-moon,
As Chairman of the “Sri Lankan Americans for President Obama,” and as a United States citizen, I am writing this letter to you to express our feelings regarding Sri Lanka.
As Secretary General of the United Nations, I am sure you are quite aware of the Charter of the UN, and specifically Article 2, Paragraph 7 which states:
”Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the UN to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state……”
We US Citizens who are also members of this group cannot understand why you are interfering in Sri Lanka’s internal matters in regards to the internally displaced persons within Sri Lanka.
May I point you many other situations that would deserve your attention, that the UN has legal right to be involved with, and that are greatly impinging on the free world and causing harm to all peoples on this earth such as: North Korea, Iran, Sudan, Tibet, Georgia, the Maoist problem in India and Kasmir, to name a few.
We implore you, Mr. Secretary General, to abide by the the letter of the Law - namely the UN Charter - and not to appear to please your paymasters.
Please grant us an interview to meet with you at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
Dr. C. K. Fernando
President
