Letter to President Barack Obama

March 17, 2009

Dear Mr. President, Hon: Barack Obama,

Most of us in our group were foot-soldiers for you in your campaign for the Presidency and still continue to work for you in various ways. We wish you the best in all your endeavors to help this country and the world at-large.
We are writing this letter so you could think about it and call some of us to meet with you at your convenience to enact policy regarding a cause very dear to us -Sri Lanka. We are not asking for any favors, but since we saw Secretary Clinton making the statement that the policy of your administration was to meet with Tamils who do not espouse violence and terrorists. This we say is the right course of action.
The Sri-Lankan Americans for President Obama.com is composed of a diverse group of Sri Lankans consisting of Sinhalese, Tamils, Moors, Burghers and others of Sri Lankan heritage who are US citizens. We are law abiding citizens, who are well versed with the political, socio-economic and other factors vis a vis Sri Lanka. So we appeal to you before you make any decisions re; Sri Lanka that you meet with us. We are all minorities in the USA, and hence we speak for all minorities in the world. They have to be given a voice and protected. You know your own personal struggles and we understand that.
So please Mr. President we ask for a meeting with you and your Foreign Policy experts who are involved with the Sri Lankan Issue.
Thank you,
